In June 2000, the Ministry of Community & Social Services (MCSS) announced their intention to improve crisis service to children and youth within the London and Middlesex County area. Community working groups and the MCSS area office approved a model that would lead to the amalgamation of intake services of four agencies
What Is the Crisis Intake Team (C-IT)?
C-IT provides two primary functions for the community -- crisis intervention and intake services.
The Crisis Intake Team provides crisis intervention which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week for youth up to the age of 18 and their parent(s)/guardian(s) living in the London / Middlesex County area at (519) 433-0334. Follow-up face to face appointments may occur during the next business day, if necessary. After hours crisis support is also provided for Oxford and Elgin counties via an arrangement with Oxford-Elgin Child and Youth Centre (OECYC).
The Crisis Intake Team integrates the intake departments of Vanier Children's Services, Western Area Youth Services and Craigwood Youth Services. C-IT provides intake services for all non-residential programs these agencies offer. Services are designed for children and youth from birth to age eighteen, and their families. Members of the community who wish to access services may do so by calling (519) 433-0334 between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. From this call we will provide connection to any of the partnering agencies and their services.
Each business day C-IT reserves two 90-minute time blocks for appointments for those who are in immediate need. These appointments are at 9:30 am and 11:00 am at Madame Vanier Children Services, 871 Trafalgar Street, London Ontario.
Included among the partners that C-IT is working with to provide more effective services are:
